Yes, hotels are available but limited. Be sure to book as soon as you register if you want to use hotels. We also offer Tent Sherpa.
The 2022 Montana Road Tour is on paved road. We recommend a road bike suitable for climbing mountain passes and using "Gatorskin" style tires. Montana roads have long hard winters and many miles of roads to cover; this means you'll have good sections of road and road that is waiting its turn to be improved. Don't bring racing tires.
Pedal assist is welcome however if you choose to use a pedal assisted bike, you are responsible for your own batteries and charging. Please plan to charge in hotels or bring proper charging equipment that we can plug in at campsites. While we have professional mechanics, we cannot promise all e-bike specific items as we are in small towns without bike shops. Thank you for understanding.
We will have more information posted here about shipping your bike. We do recommend using Bike Flights or shipping with your local bike shop recommendations. We will be working with the local bike shop, Knickerbiker, in Great Falls.
Intermediate to advanced level riding is preferred. Beginners are not discouraged but will need to be sure to have a solid 4-5 months of training on the saddle. Some days are long and day one has significant climbing. There is a layover day mid-week in Lewistown to take a break or ride.
See our Cancellation Policy.
In some towns you'll have cell service and some will not have very good service. Most of the route is in and out of cell service so it's best to put your phone on airplane mode, ride and take in Montana.
We do not have a lot of extra space in some of our camps for family and friends to bring extra cars. But we can work out exceptions and provide guidance in the areas we are visiting. Above all, we highly discourage them to drive the routes and be within the cyclists on the road. It creates unwanted congestion on the tour. Please contact us for further guidance.
Yes, it includes all meals, camping and route support for 3 days along with a shuttle back to Billings.
